The French ambassador to Armenia Serge Amesov, in his interview with Report.am, in answer to the question about the reason of increasing interest of the world and in particular France, towards the South Caucasus, and about the role of Armenia in it said that the South Caucasus became the neighbor of the European Union and its stability is of much interest for the EU and France.
Dwelling on the present stage of the normalization process of the Armenian and Turkish relations, the ambassador said that everything should be done to carry to an end the Armenian and Turkish process, to overcome historical disagreements.
In response to the question that the Armenian and Turkish protocols harm and even stop the international recognition of the Armenian genocide, the ambassador Amesov said that these two issues are not linked, one does not suppose the other and there is no renounce from the genocide.
Dwelling on democratic institutions in Armenia, in particular on electoral processes and the condition of mass media, Serge Amesov said even though there is some progress, some things are not eliminated and we can only hope that as a result of the cooperation between Armenia and EU and the reforms carried out by the government, the situation will improve.
