The election of the president in Ukraine maybe assessed as a model for post-soviet countries. The Baltic countries are perhaps better but they can be considered as post-soviet territory only relatively because even during the soviet years, these nations did not betray their values. Ukraine is a good example for the other countries. Regardless the type of the candidates and their biography, the fact that the government lost and the citizens are trying to change the president of the country through their votes is teaching at least from the point of the method and form. As to the result, the latter is interesting from the point that the winner did not manage to gather 50 percent of votes. More, the difference between the votes of Yanukovich and Timoshenko is about 3 percent. In other words, Ukraine is still split and this means that the point is not about the president of the country but the president of the half of the country. The essential is that after the orange revolution, the “happy” mood of Yushchenko ended and his turn came to approach the table of sacrifice after Timoshenko and Yanukovich came. Yanukovich seems to be the first victim of the revolution when his victory was declared invalid under the repression of the orange revolution. But it was a seemingly reality. In reality, Yanukovich will only now become the “victim”. He will only now try to become the president of Ukraine which attempted but did not manage to do Timoshenko and Yushchenko. The possibility that Yanukovich will fail either is big because Ukraine is still in a hard economic –political situation. But the problem is that all this stands for active seeking work in Ukraine. In other words, the right to “save” the country is not monopolized. That is, though little, but there is some responsibility towards the public.
